The team of supporters for the Andy Caress Melanoma Foundation is gearing up for the added excitement of this year’s Block the Sun Run. Last year’s run was inspiring. Andy’s purpose for the organization – to educate the world about melanoma – was understood in full force; and, as an added benefit, it united communities. Last year’s run throughout Historic Glendale reunited an entire community as hundreds gathered to remember Andy, lather on sunscreen, and run (or walk) with all their might. Some traveled from as far as California and Colorado to see (and race) old friends and new friends in Glendale.

Let’s come together on May 12 to run (or walk) our hardest and remember the determination that Andy had throughout his entire battle. Let’s remember who he was and continue to be his warriors in the fight against melanoma.

In his own words, Andy shared much on his blog during his battle. There were many ups and downs during his battle, yet he remained strong and courageous throughout. He shared the following during a moment of immense strength and good news. It serves as a great reminder for us all:

“While I experience this incredible high, I must acknowledge that I have been carried here on the shoulders of my fellow melanoma warriors…So, with that in mind, I will continue to live every day to its fullest, and I hope that you all do the same. And please, always remember, awareness is key. Spread the word.”

Block the Sun Run Details and Registration:

Course: The course starts and ends near the Glendale Village Square, and winds throughout Historic Glendale.

Date: Please hold May 12 on your calendar. Race time is 5:30 pm.

  $20.00 registration (through 5/10 at 11:59 PM EDT)

Late Registration: Late registration will be $30 and will be accepted through the day of the race. However, late registrations will only be accepted in person at Bob Roncker’s Running Spot Glendale Store, during the times indicated for packet pick up. We encourage you to register early, online.
